Today has been reported that after long discussions, the leaders of Electronic Arts (EA) have decided to abandon the creation of a new studio, which, according to earlier plans, was to appear in Vancouver (Canada).
The reason is obvious - the financial crisis. Low season sales of games, have fallen short of expectations for the company additional profits before Christmas, only speeded up the harshness of the verdict. By the plan, the studio had to be in Yeyltown, a suburb of Vancouver, the new building area of 1.8 thousand square meters. It was expected that the new unit will share a place with part of an existing EA studios in Vancouver and take a series of game developers such as Need for Speed and FIFA.
"It is time for change, not an easy time for our industry - comment on the news Colin Macrae, an official of the company. - But we will keep close ties with the Vancouver".
